The Harry Crossley Children’s Nursing Development Unit

Applications are invited for two Lecturer positions (one in Children’s Nursing and the other in Critical Care Children’s Nursing) to this vibrant unit in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health
We are looking to recruit Children’s / Critical Care Children’s Nursing trained Lecturers, who are able to bring innovative clinical teaching approaches to an exciting new blended learning platform, including both face to face and remote teaching and learning. You will need the clinical acumen to contribute to postgraduate Children’s / Critical Care Children’s nursing programmes by integrating student learning with nursing practice in the rich clinical learning environment of busy clinical settings locally and in the region.
You will contribute to improving and transforming clinical service delivery for children, through equipping new generations of postgraduate nursing students with the knowledge and skills they need to provide and lead excellent nursing care to sick/critically ill and injured children and their families. You will apply your skills as a specialist nurse and educator and your personal commitment to excellence to inspire students to reach challenging goals and standards.
This appointment is being made in fulfillment of the requirements of the Education and Training guidelines for

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes (SANC 2020); and will include responsibility for the Postgraduate Diploma
Programme in Children’s / Critical Care Children’s Nursing, in collaboration with the Division of Nursing and Midwifery.

• A relevant specialist qualification in child nursing or child critical care nursing at postgraduate level
• A master’s degree relevant to children’s nursing.
• SANC recognised professional qualification in nursing education.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a paediatric or paediatric critical care nurse
• Evidence of regular engagement with relevant clinical paediatric service delivery in the last 5 years AND/OR
• At least 3 years’ experience of clinical nursing in a relevant paediatric service, in the last 5 years

• At least 2 years’ experience of providing a verifiably high-quality educational experience for students; including safe supervision of clinical learning.
• Evidence of commencing or ongoing involvement in research with demonstrable outputs.

The annual remuneration package, including benefits is R765 575.
